We have been given royal recognition thanks to an award from his Royal Highness the Duke of York.
The Children’s Sleep Charity, has been announced as a recipient of The Duke of York's Community Initiative Awards 2017.
Founded in 1998 by His Royal Highness, the Community Initiative Awards “actively encourage the development of community spirit” in Yorkshire and Humberside. They acknowledge the work of community-based projects that are owned and developed by the people they serve and that provide an inspiration to others.
Vicki Dawson CEO of the charity said, “We are absolutely delighted to receive such a prestigious award. Sleep issues in children are more common than most people think with up to 40% of all children suffering a some point. Sleep deprivation can have a huge impact not only on a child’s physical, emotional and mental health, but also on the members of their family. We receive 100’s of emails a week from families across the country in absolute crisis and we work very hard not only to support those families, but to provide accredited training for professionals across the country to enable sleep support to be sustained at community level. Everyone who supports and volunteers for The Children’s Sleep Charity does so with limited time and resources and we hope that this royal recognition will further provide more awareness of our work and help us to continue"
